The Good Politician

By Nicholas Clarke |

We’ve just signed the contract for a book with Cambridge University Press. The title is ‘The Good Politician: Folk Theories, Political Interaction, and the Rise of Anti-Politics’. We’re hoping the book will be availableĀ from May/June 2018. It will cover: the phenomenon and conceptualisation of anti-politics; why anti-politics matters; the historical development of anti-political sentiment in the case of the United Kingdom; the different dimensions of that historical development (social scope, political scope, and intensity); explanations for the rise of anti-politics (includingĀ citizens’Ā changing image of ‘the good politician’, and changing modes of political interaction between citizens and politicians); and reform options available to thoseĀ concerned by the current anti-politics mood.
